Introduction
This accredited hypnotherapy supervisor course is an 8-session webinar that provides thorough training in providing supervision in the hypnotherapy profession. The course is accredited by the APHP and has been accepted by the GHR as being suitable for training appropriately qualified and experienced GHR registrants to acknowledged GHR Supervisor status.
Sessions must be attended live to qualify for APHP accreditation.
What does the course cover?
Over the eight sessions you will learn:
- A brief history of supervision in the helping professions, and an overview of the different theoretical models
- What supervision is, why it is important and what the role of a supervisor is
- How supervision differs from therapy and how to use reflective practice in supervision
- What legal and ethical issues are involved in supervision
- How to spot transference issues that may be affecting a supervisee in their practice
- How to spot signs of burnout within a supervisee and what to do about it
- How to conduct both one- to-one (individual) supervision and group supervision
- How to effectively structure supervision sessions
- How to apply the APHP and GHR Supervision guidelines
Every lesson has time built in for real-time online practical experience and you will also receive comprehensive notes and templates.
Course Level
This course is aimed at qualified hypnotherapists with a minimum of 5 years in practice.
To apply for Supervisor level with the APHP you must already be an Accredited member (MAPHP Acc.) of that organisation.
To apply for acknowledged Supervisor status with the GHR you must be an appropriately qualified and experienced GHR registrant.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, you will be able to:
Understand and explain what supervision is and the supervisor’s role
Understand and explain the importance of clinical supervision for the practitioner
Understand and implement reflective practice in supervision
Describe the history of clinical supervision
Describe three different theoretical models for supervision, and choose which one works best for you
Understand the legal and ethical issues involved in supervision
Understand and compare the differences between supervision and therapy
Identify transference issues how it may affect a supervisee and their practice
Identify signs of burnout and how that may impact a practitioner's ability to work effectively with clients
Understand the differences between one- to-one (individual) supervision and group supervision
Structure and conduct effective individual and group supervision sessions
Understand and advise students about the APHP and GHR Supervision guidelines
How the Course is Structured
This is an online course, conducted over Zoom. There is a mix of theory and practical work and we screen share slides to show visuals and highlight the main points of theory. The practical sessions are conducted in breakout rooms with the tutor switching between the groups to monitor and advise on progress. Sessions are recorded for later viewing, although this will not include the practical breakout rooms.

Certification and Accreditation
You will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the course.
The course is accredited by the APHP and has been accepted by the GHR as being suitable for training appropriately qualified and experienced GHR registrants to acknowledged GHR Supervisor status.
On completion of a final assessment you will receive a Certificate in Hypnotherapy Supervision (issued by EICH Norfolk). If you are an existing Accredited member of the APHP you will be eligible to apply for Supervisor level with them. If you are an appropriately qualified and experienced GHR registrant you will be eligible to apply for acknowledged GHR Supervisor status.
Sessions must be attended live to qualify for APHP accreditation.
About the Presenters

June Hale

June is EICH Norfolk’s resident lecturer, and a busy full-time hypnotherapist in private practice, helping clients to overcome all manner of psychological difficulties. She trained as a hypnotherapist with Terence Watts at the Essex Institute in Southend and stayed on to work there as a Teaching Assistant after qualifying in December 2006. She has been teaching hypno/psychotherapy-based courses at her own schools since 2008. June is an Accredited Supervisor and Fellow of the APHP (Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy) and is an accredited member of several other professional organisations.
