Introduction

This is the Essex Institute psychosexual diploma course developed by Terence Watts. It is an intensive course leading to a Diploma in working with psychosexual dysfunction disorders, which will teach you how to work confidently with most problems in this area.

Taught by Terence himself for many years, it is now taught exclusively in the UK by June Hale and Georgina McKinnon. We enjoyed teaming up for our first run of this course in 2023 and will continue to do so, giving you the advantage of being taught by two professional trainers, bringing together our joint years of experience of working successfully in this field. We are looking forward to the next run in May 2024, with another one already planned for September.

What does the course cover?

In this Psychosexual Dysfunction Diploma course we cover most problems experienced by both male and female clients. You will learn how to work competently and effectively with:

  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Vaginismus
  • Anorgasmia
  • Premature Ejaculation
  • Sexual Aversion Disorder
  • Dyspareunia (pain on intercourse)
  • Secondary Sexual Dysfunction
  • Hypoactive Desire Disorder (frigidity)
  • Incompatibility issues
  • Sexual ignorance
  • Many more…

On completion of this course you will be fully conversant and prepared to work in this field. Be warned though – we tell it like it is and there is no room to be coy! As well the course notes, made up of an 86,000 word resource pack, you will also receive information on:

Course Level

This course is aimed at professional therapists wishing to help their clients overcome psychosexual problems. It assumes that you are appropriately trained and are currently in clinical practice.

How the Course is Structured

This is an online course, conducted over Zoom. The main focus is on the theory work and we screen-share slides to show some visuals and highlight the main points of theory. Sessions are recorded for later viewing.

For those working towards the Diploma, there are homework assignments to be completed after each lesson, and a multiple-choice ‘take home’ exam to complete at the end.

Full course notes are also provided in PDF format.

Certification and Diploma

You will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the course.

On successful completion of the homework and final assessment you will also receive a Diploma in Psychosexual Dysfunction, issued by EICH Norfolk.
